One of Madison’s favorite craft breweries is opening a new location next week. Old Black Bear Brewing Co. is set to open its Athens location Monday.

Madison’s own Old Black Bear Brewing — known not only for its tasty craft brews but also its fantastic food — is opening its new location in Athens. This is big news for folks in Athens, as anyone who has enjoyed the brewery in Madison can confirm.

Breweries expanding in the Huntsville area
The expansion of Old Black Bear runs counter to a somewhat negative trend we saw over the summer , wherein three local breweries closed.
But OBB joins Back Forty Brewing as Alabama craft breweries that are expanding. Back Forty, based in Gadsden but with a location in Birmingham as well, is opening a Huntsville location this year.
The new Huntsville location for Back Forty will be at 3254 Leeman Ferry Rd SW Huntsville, AL 35801. We will have an update soon on the new Huntsville Back Forty location.
