Plenty of new blockbuster movies are out in the theaters right now, and while those are all entertaining and exciting, sometimes we long for some old movies—either from our past or even before we were born—with the theater experience.

We have you covered, if that’s something you’re into. We found a handful of spots here in the Huntsville area where you can catch an old film or two (and for pretty cheap).

Independent Cinema

The Independent Cinema, located on the first floor at Lowe Mill, presents showings of old movies of varying genres, and often hosts movie theme nights. They are open Wednesday-Sunday with showtimes starting around 2PM. Tickets to these shows are $10.

Huntsville-Madison County Public Libraries

The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library system offers multiple programs that include FREE movies. Whether you are catching a documentary showing at the Downtown Public Library, seeing a sci-fi flick at the Madison Public Library or enjoying the “Reel Classics Film Series” at the South Huntsville Public Library, the system has a little something for everyone.

Field Day

Field Day offers Free Family Movie Night every Wednesday. These are absolutely free movies and include viewings of films like “How to Train Your Dragon,” “Jumanji” and “Space Jam,” to name a few.

Shenanigans Comedy Theatre

Shenanigans offers Throwback Cinema Night, which occurs once a month and features some classic and some off-the-wall comedies (this month’s feature is “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar”) for $5.50. Sounds pretty awesome, right?
