Sometimes you just need a burger.

Whether you prefer a classic diner experience or something a bit more experimental, Huntsville has something to suit your tastes. Read on for 11 Huntsville burger spots and a menu recommendation from each if you just can’t decide what to order—I know I’ll be adding some of these to my “must try” list.

1. Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar

Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar is one of the newer additions to Memorial Parkway. You can try one of the restaurant’s inventive burgers or choose from the long list of ingredients to build your own.

Try this: The Jalapeño Popper Burger comes complete with jalapeño cream cheese, jalapeño bacon, fried jalapeños, lettuce, tomato and BBQ sauce. Pass me the Tums.

2. Ale’s Kitchen

Ale’s Kitchen might be my favorite part of the Straight to Ale/Campus No. 805 experience. With delicious bites and a fun, laid-back atmosphere, it’s a great place to spend some free time.

Try this: I love barbecue sauce on a burger, and Ale’s Kitchen provides just that with the Smokestack Burger. It also comes with pulled pork, bacon, slaw, crispy onions and bistro sauce—yum.

3. Old Black Bear Taproom

Old Black Bear’s mantra is “Hard work has its reward.” I’m going to interpret that to mean that my reward for a hard week of work should be one of their delicious burgers.

Try this: I only had to read one word to know which burger I’d try from Old Black Bear: “Pimento.” The Pimento burger has a scoop of house-made pimento cheese and crispy onion straws. They recommend trying it with a fried chicken thigh rather than the traditional burger patty—I’d like to try one of each, please.

In addition to a menu packed with unique burgers, Jack Brown’s has different burger specials every day. Sunday’s special shares a name with Huntsville’s favorite minor league baseball team—and has a glazed donut for a bun.

Try this: The Greg Brady sounds like a perfectly balanced blend of creamy, crunchy and delicious. The burger is topped with mac n’ cheese and Martin’s BBQ potato chips.

5. Big Spring Cafe

Find the self-proclaimed “Home of the Greasy Burger” on Governor’s Drive if you’re looking for a traditional, diner-style experience.

Try this: Nothing hits the spot quite like a classic, no-frills cheeseburger. I’ve heard that Big Spring Cafe has one of the best.

Peppered Pig is a South Huntsville food truck serving up some of Huntsville’s most unique burgers. If you don’t want to make the drive to South Huntsville, don’t worry—we hear they’re planning to open a restaurant in Jones Valley soon.

Try this: Banh Mi on a burger? Try it at Peppered Pig—angus beef is topped with char-siu pork, pickled daikon + carrot, cucumbers, cilantro, jalapeños and pate aioli for an unforgettable fusion dish.

While most in Madison know Cricket’s for their wings, it’s also a great, casual spot to get ribs, chicken sandwiches or a classic sports bar burger.

Burgers or tacos? Why not both? (Shaggy’s Burgers and Tacos on Facebook)

One of my go-to Huntsville spots, Shaggy’s is a great, fast-casual place when you can’t decide between burgers or tacos. I’ve never met a menu item there that I didn’t like.

Try this: If you’re feeling adventurous, go for the Taco Burger—it’s the perfect crossover between Shaggys’ two specialties.
