The first weekend of May is upon us, and we have plenty of cool stuff in mind your you to check out this weekend.

1. Big Ol’ Ballpark Fair
The Big Ol’ Ballpark Fair makes its return to Toyota Field this week, and continues through Sunday. The fair features 30 rides and numerous games and activities in and around Toyota Field, plus free entertainment with admission.

2. Taylor Swift Night at Innerspace Brewing
Come celebrate a fortnight of The Tortured Poets Department with InnerSpace Brewing Co. This tribute party includes giveaways, specialty beers and pizzas and more.

3. Game Jam South
This gaming expo is a two-day event celebrating gaming from every generation. The event includes vendors, special guests, panel discussions and more.

4. Fitness in the Park
This weekend kicks off the summer-long Fitness in the Park program, which happens every Saturday morning (may 4-June 29) at Big Soring Park. These are free fitness classes with professional instructors.

5. Guided hike at Wade Mountain Nature Preserve
If you haven’t seen it yet, join the Land Trust of North Alabama on a guided hike up the Devil’s Racetrack trail at Wade Mountain — the view is spectacular.

6. Mayor’s Bike Ride + Block Party
Check out the 15th Annual Mayor’s Bike Ride and Block Party, as Mayor Tommy Battle, the HPD Bike Unit and a ton of Huntsvillians take a ride through scenic downtown, ending with an awesome block party.

7. Lowe Mill Outdoor Market

8. Fido Fest

9. Alabama A&M Baseball
The Alabama A&M baseball team will host in-state rival Alabama State for three games this weekend on the Hill.

10. Stella’s Kentucky Derby Watch Party

11. 5 Points PorchFest
Started during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to counter the closure of local music venues, PorchFest has become a huge music event here in Huntsville. With musicians playing on the front porches of homes all along Pratt Avenue in Five Points this weekend, this is a cool and free event.

12. Huntsville Symphony Orchestra’s ‘May the 4th Be with You’
Celebrate International Star Wars Day with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra’s tribute to John Williams. This program celebrates the Movie Maestro’s life and legacy, along with classic selections by fellow film composers.
