Propst Arena project includes new upgrade to 25-year-old ice system

This week, 14 new building permits were issued statewide for construction projects exceeding $1 million, with one of the projects happening here in Huntsville.

The project, which involves the Von Braun Center, was issued a $3.3 million building permit.

Propst Arena updating its ice system

A $3.3 million building permits was issued to Modern Mechanical Ice Systems for the upgrade of Propst Arena’s 25-year-old ice system.

The project involves replacing the arena floor, piping and chillers with modern, energy-efficient technology designed for improved performance and reliability.

The Huntsville Havoc hockey team plays its home games at Propst, and the project is expected to begin at season’s end. The project requires a major shutdown of Propst Arena from June through August to complete the installation, impacting summer events.
