Public input sought for new lane reduction project in Guntersville

The Alabama Department of Transportation is encouraging residents to give input on a lane reduction project on Alabama 227 in Guntersville.
The “road diet” is proposed by ALDOT to provide what they consider to be a more efficient lane configuration.
ALDOT proposes to reconfigure a four-lane and five-lane segment of SR-227 from Sims Street to Signal Point Road. After resurfacing, the road will be re-striped from two through lanes in each direction to one through lane in each direction and a two-way center left turn lane.
Residents can view maps of the proposed project and submit comments to ALDOT here. Participants are asked to submit comments by Monday, August 31.
