Road resurfacing to begin across 2 North Alabama counties

Work on a little more than five miles of Alabama 117 in DeKalb and Jackson counties will start Wednesday, September 2, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.
Rogers Group, the contractor on the $1.7 million project, will mill and resurface the two-lane highway from SR-75 in Ider to SR-71 in Flat Rock.

Lane closures expected until early fall
ALDOT said motorists should expect delays due to single-lane closures. A pilot car and/or flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. ALDOT anticipates completion of the project this fall.
This road resurfacing project comes after another North Alabama road project began last week—the resurfacing of SR-168 in DeKalb County from the Marshall County line to SR-68 in Kilpatrick.
The contractor began patching Wednesday, August 26, in preparation for milling and paving the 2.3 mile stretch of two-lane highway. ALDOT anticipates completion of the $527,580 project also in early fall.
