The Space & Rocket Center’s original statute was passed in 1965, and the new statute is intended to update that legislation. Here are some new aspects of the statute:

  • Changing the name of Center’s board of directors from Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Commission
  • Adding the governor as an ex-officio commission member
  • Adjusting the length of terms commissioners can serve and imposing term limits for members
  • Modernizing the center’s operating rules and procedures.
