Stadium Commons project among new high-dollar building permits this week

Of the 14 new building permits issued across the state this past week for construction projects exceeding $1 million, 11 are for projects in North Alabama.

One of the largest of these projects is the much-anticipated Stadium Commons development next to Joe Davis Stadium.

One of the priciest of this week’s building permits at more than $8 million, the Stadium Commons project includes:

  • A 100-room hotel
  • 70,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space
  • 20,000 square feet of office space
  • 200 loft-style multifamily housing units 
  • A 408-space parking garage, 300 of which would be leased by the City of Huntsvilleto support events at John Hunt Park and Joe Davis Stadium

Brasfield & Gorrie is listed as the lead contractor on this permit.
