Swan Creek Shopping Center in Athens among new $1M+ building permits

New high-dollar construction projects are plentiful here in Alabama, with 16 new building permits approved this past week for projects exceeding $1 million.

These permits include projects in Harvest, Auburn, Opelika, Cullman and the Birmingham metro, along with two permits totaling nearly $10 million for the Swan Creek Shopping Center in Athens.

Swan Creek Shopping Center in Athens

Two building permits, for $4.8 million each, were issued to Stewart/Perry Company as part of the $34 million Swan Creek Shopping Center project in Athens, which will feature:

  • Hobby Lobby
  • Academy Sports + Outdoors
  • HomeGoods
  • PetSmart
  • Burlington

Construction is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2027.
