Huntsville is already home to NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and more—why not throw the FBI into the mix? The FBI is adding a $1 billion campus to Huntsville’s community. Read on for even more info.
The FBI’s existing presence in Huntsville
The FBI has had a presence in Rocket City for over 40 years, with more than 400 FBI employees in North Alabama.
Already, Redstone Arsenal is home to two FBI operations—the Hazardous Devices School and the Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center.
With a foot in the Huntsville door, I’m sure the FBI will be welcomed with open arms by Huntsvillians.
“Huntsville presents the FBI with new opportunities to build our capabilities, create new partnerships, and further our mission.”

FBI Redstone
Redstone Arsenal is the U.S. Army base located just outside of Huntsville. Many don’t get to see what goes on behind the gates, so we’re here to tell you more about the FBI campus coming to the Arsenal.
Here comes a 38,000-acre federal research, development, testing and engineering center. The FBI will work closely with the Army and other Huntsville agencies. Sounds like the dream team to me.
The expansion in Huntsville will cost $1 billion and hopes to bring 3,400 jobs by 2026.
The FBI will look at the Redstone campus as “Headquarter no. 2” or as a “back-up HQ.”
Why Huntsville?
Huntsville is now the biggest city in Alabama, based on the U.S. Census Bureau. Business Insider also named Huntsville as one of the top places in the U.S. to live. However, if you live in Huntsville you already know how great it is. 😉
The FBI sees opportunity and promise in Rocket City.
Construction is underway on Redstone. Are you ready to welcome the FBI?
