A great time to plant trees
Autumn is the best time of year to plant trees in the South, and the city’s Tree Planting Day will take advantage of the cooler temperatures and invite folks out to help plant 350 trees at John Hunt Park.
Here are some details about the event:
- Tree Planting Day is Nov. 4 at John Hunt Park.
- Planting will take place from 9AM to 12PM.
- All ages and experience levels are welcome, so bring the whole family for a full morning of tree-planting fun.
- Complimentary coffee, popcorn, donuts and litter cleanup supplies will also be available during the drop-in event.
Other ways to help
If spending a morning enjoying the fresh air isn’t enough of an incentive, Green Team will give away seedling trees to take home and plant, while supplies last.
Also, the Huntsville Green Team and the Land Trust of North Alabama are calling for volunteers to help plant 1,000 trees at Wade Mountain on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9AM to 12PM. All supplies will be provided.
