UAH named ‘Best Value’ university in Alabama

Financial wellness website SmartAsset recently listed colleges and universities where students get the most out of their money. Well, the University of Alabama in Huntsville was not only listed among those schools, but was tops in Alabama.
Here’s what SmartAsset says about UAH:
UAH tops Best Value Colleges list
In determining which colleges and universities provide the best value to students, SmartAsset evaluated schools on various financial metrics, such as scholarships awarded, starting salaries, tuition, living expenses and retention rates.
SmartAsset’s finding about UAH include:
- Highest median starting salary in Alabama at $62,200
- More than 70% of graduates remain in Alabama when they enter the workforce
- Nearly two-thirds of undergraduate students receive financial aid
- The student retention rate stands at 79%

How UAH fared against other Alabama schools
The SmartAsset study ranked Alabama colleges by their “Value Index,” which takes into account starting salary, tuition, living expenses, student retention rate and scholarships awarded.

- University of Alabama in Huntsville
- Tuskegee University
- University of Alabama
- Troy University
- Jacksonville State
- University of South Alabama
- Auburn University
- Alabama A&M
- University of North Alabama
- Auburn University in Montgomery
