UAH track star earns GSC Runner of the Year honors

University of Alabama in Huntsville cross country runner Ahmed Ibrahim took home the individual title over the weekend at the 2025 Gulf South Conference Cross Country Championships in Memphis.
Ibrahim is the third straight Charger to win the Runner of the Year title at the GSC Cross Country Championships.

Ibrahim took home the individual title at the GSC Championships on the men’s side and set a school record in the process with a 23:29.37 time, surpassing a record previously held by Sam Wilhelm.
As a team, the No. 28 men’s squad took second place overall, while the women placed third.
UAH had five runners place inside the top 20 at the conference meet:
- Ahmed Ibrahim (1st)
- Dakota Frank (9th)
- Conner Patterson (12th)
- Nate Pohlsander (18th)
- Evan Christopher (19th)
On the women’s side, UAH runners also placed well in the GSC Championships:
- Tamsyn Gibbs (8th)
- Lexi Hinote (12th)
- Catherine Triemper (16th)
- Autumn Betts (25th)
- Lindsey Barnes (26th)
UAH will move on to the NCAA postseason with the 2025 NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships in Lakeland, Florida, on November 8.
