UNA hires new women’s basketball coach

Recently, the University of North Alabama Director of Athletics, Dr. Josh Looney, announced the hiring of Anna Nimz as the 10th head coach of the UNA women’s basketball program.

About Anna Nimz

Nimz is stepping into her new role as head coach after leading an incredible six-year turnaround at Northwestern State. Check out these fast facts about her career prior to her UNA tenure 👇

• 🏆Secured 192 collegiate wins
• ⛹️‍♀️Led Northwestern State to 18 wins in ’25-26 (most in 10 years) + 14 conference wins (most in 22 years)
• 🤠She moved to Texas + led Kilgore College to a 58-36 record over three seasons prior to her time at Northwestern State
• 🏀Nimz was a student-athlete + team captain at Pittsburg State from ’05-07, averaging 10.9 points + 3.1 assists per game
