Upcoming art exhibits here in the Huntsville area

As spring arrives here in the Rocket City, folks want to get out and about, and there’ are few more cathartic outings than taking in a good art exhibit.

Luckily for Huntsvillians, several art exhibits are coming to the area in the next couple of months. Check these out:

‘American Made’ at Huntsville Museum of Art

One of two HMA art exhibits coming this spring and summer, “American Made,” begins with Colonial-era portraits by masters, such as Benjamin West, Thomas Sully and Sarah Miriam Peale, and then moves on to highlight the development of mid-19th-century landscape painting.

Viewers will discover works depicting the United States from coast to coast by artists, including Thomas Cole, Asher B. Durand, Jasper Francis Copsey, and even a monumental arctic scene by William Bradford.

‘Organically Orthodox’ at Lowe Mill

This exhibition round includes works provided by Brian Bohanan, a local folk artist who has had work displayed at multiple shows throughout the South.

‘The Elements of Art’ at Lowe Mill

This exhibition round includes works provided by the students of Huntsville City Schools Pre-Kindergarten. This exhibit will be on display beginning March 30.

‘Embracing Art XXII’ at Carnegie Visual Arts Center

Embracing Art is an annual juried exhibit featuring works by North Alabama-connected artists and was the inaugural exhibit for the Carnegie Visual Arts Center in April 2003.

The exhibit includes works in multiple media including pencil, watercolor, oil, acrylic, clay, and mixed media.
