When you have finished your nap after a massive Thanksgiving dinner — and perhaps a bit of leftovers — you may feel like getting out and about in the Huntsville area this weekend. Well, over the next few days there are several fun events to check out.

Live Music

As always, the Huntsville area this weekend includes some pretty cool live music events. This includes a little something for everyone, with some local favorites and touring artists:

  • Brit Floyd: Nov. 24, Mark C. Smith Concert Hall, 7PM. Brit Floyd returns to the stage in 2023 to perform a brand-new production celebrating 50 years of the ground-breaking and iconic musical masterpiece The Dark Side of the Moon.
  • Brandon Elder: Nov. 24, Furniture Factory (Providence), 8PM. Catch local talent Brandon Elder perform at the Furniture Factory in the Village of Providence.
  • The Crash/Dave Anderson Project: Nov. 24, Stovehouse, 6PM. Catch local artists The Crash and teh Dave Anderson Project live at Stovehouse for “Flee the Fam Black Friday Jam”
  • 5 O’Clock Charlie: Nov. 25, Voodoo Lounge, 9PM. Head to one of Huntsville’s most intimate live music venues and enjoy the tunes of 5 O’Clock Charlie.
  • Sunday Jazz Jams: Nov. 26, Yellowhammer Brewing, 3PM. Who doesn’t love some smooth jazz music on a Sunday afternoon?

Sports + Fitness

Yes, we realize it is Iron Bowl weekend, so many of you will likely be glued to the television during most of the afternoon Saturday. However, there’s also plenty of sports to watch or join in the Huntsville area this weekend:

  • Huntsville Havoc vs. Pensacola: Nov. 24, Propst Arena, 7PM. Catch the Havoc as they host the Pensacola Ice Flyers (the Havoc will also play on Thanksgiving night by the way).
  • Iron Bowl Fun Run: Nov. 25, Fleet Feet East Madison Shopping Center, 9AM. Come dressed in your teams colors, the team with the biggest turn out will win an extra discount on their purchase for the day
  • Iron Bowl Watch Party: Nov. 25, Jeff & Blues, 2-6PM. Come out to Jeff & Blues and watch the Iron Bowl — but Auburn and Alabama aren’t the only ones competing, as Yellowhammer and Straight to Ale will also face off in an epic brewery bowl. Throughout the event, you can cast your votes for various Yellowhammer and Straight to Ale beers to advance to each round.
  • UAH Basketball: Nov. 25, Spragins Hall, Women’s game 2PM, Men’s game 4PM. Cheer on the Chargers as they host Montevallo.
  • Ditto Landing 10K: Nov. 26, Ditto Landing, 7AM. Join in on the Huntsville Track Club’s Ditto Landing 10K benefiting the HTC’s Harold & Louise Tinsley Scholarship Fund.

Shows, exhibits, events

With Thanksgiving over, there will obviously be a whole bunch of shopping going on in this weekend in the Huntsville area, but don’t forget to stop and check out some of these cool events happening in the area:

  • Santa at Bridge Street: Nov. 24-Dec. 24, Bridge Street Town Centre, 10AM-5PM. Friday is the first day Santa will be available at Bridge Street!
  • Holiday Homecoming: Nov. 24-26, Orion Amphitheater, Fri. 5PM-1AM, Sat. 10AM-6PM, Sun. 1PM-6PM. Head to the Orion to kick off the holiday season. The weekend has holiday movie showings, pictures with Santa, live music, DJs, pig roasts and more.
  • Madison City Farmers Market: Nov. 25, Trinity Baptist Church, 9AM. This is the last weekend for the fall farmerfs market, so don’t miss out on your favorite vendors.
  • Sunday Games at JC’s House of Cards: Nov. 26, JC’s House of Cards, 1PM. This is a fun gathering for folks who want to play card games and board games. And don’t worry of you don’t know how to play, by the way.
  • Nurse Blake: Nov. 26, Mark C. Smith Concert Hall, 8PM. Bring out your friends, family and coworkers for an epic night of comedy as Nurse Blake shares new stories with a comedic twist of the ins and outs of being a nurse.
