Feb. 22 is National Chili Day, and luckily for folks living here in the Huntsville area, there are plenty of spots in and around town to pay homage to this delicious dish.

Whether you look at chili as a soup, a stew or just a meal on its own, there are many ways to make it and none of those ways are wrong. That’s the beauty of chili. Here are some places in the Rocket City to celebrate National Chili Day:

1. Blue Plate Cafe

To be fair, the Blue Plate Cafe does not always offer chili, but when it’s the soup of the day, it might as well be a municipal holiday because this stuff is so good.

2. Vujee Vegan

Even those of you who do not adhere to a strictly vegan diet will absolutely love this vegan chili from Vujee Vegan.

3. MELT

One of my go-to spots for consistently good chili is MELT, where you need to try their “Chili With Chedda.” Who doesn’t love a bowl of chili with a grilled cheese sandwich?

4. Big Spring Cafe

Not only can you get a good cup of no-bean chili at the Big Spring Diner, but you can also celebrate National Chili Day by getting one of this Huntsville restaurant staple’s famous chili dogs or a chili burger.

5. Dallas Mill Deli

Dallas Mill Deli has some pretty tasty soup of the day options, but their chili might be the best of them all. Pair it with one of their awesome sandwiches or a burger.
