As the Huntsville area continues to grow, the need for specialized doctors is greater than ever. Thankfully, physicians like Dr. Chadley Runyan are filling that need.
Read on to learn why he relocated to Madison to work as a Sports Medicine Physician. Plus, learn more about the new sports clinic in town that just had its ribbon cutting on December 13—OS1 Orthopedic + Sports Injury Clinic.
Meet Dr. Runyan
Growing up, Dr. Runyan was a high school distance runner in Springfield, Ohio—a small city in Ohio of 60,000 people.
Because Springfield was on the smaller side, they didn’t have a sports medicine specialist. If Dr. Runyan got injured, he’d have to drive to Dayton or Columbus.
This experience inspired Dr. Runyan to go to medical school and specialize in orthopedic and sports medicine care.
“During high school, my teammates and I definitely could have benefited from specialized sports medicine care. I wanted to be that resource for others.”

Dr. Runyan received his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Ohio before attending the University of Toledo College of Medicine.
He completed residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Michigan and then did a fascinating fellowship in Sports Medicine at Marshall University, Huntington, WV, where he treated a Heisman Trophy candidate. He even got to be on TV a few times!
Dr. Runyan worked in Montana and South Carolina before recently moving to Madison with his family. In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, watching football, fishing and hunting.
Why he loves working at OS1
Dr. Runyan and his family have loved settling into their Madison home and finding fun things to do on the weekends in the Huntsville area. They’ve been pleasantly surprised with just how much there is to do around here!
Plus, he’s been thrilled to be a part of launching OS1 Orthopedic + Sports Injury Clinic in Madison. Dr. Runyan loves the opportunity to treat patients of all ages and backgrounds at OS1—from high school sports stars to professional athletes and active adults.
“I like to see people get better and return to what they love to do, whether that’s a particular sport, specific hobby (like woodworking) or occupation.”

- Convenience: You can get in fast at OS1, either by making an appointment or walking in. Unlike some clinics, they offer same-day care.
