It’s summer time. Even though it’s hot enough to faint outside, parks experience their highest traffic of the year. If you’re in the mood for a picnic, pickleball tournament, or just a place to sit while the kids play, check out these 4 sites.*

Willow Park
Most people in South Huntsville have seen this park, but have never gone in. Check it out when it’s not too hot.
What you can find at this park:
- Two baseball fields
- Sizable playground
- Two tennis + pickleball courts
- Community library
- Restrooms

McGucken Park
McGucken is a staple in South Huntsville and has provided a venue for multiple youth sports events. There’s a lot of space, so feel free to bring the whole family.

Kent Robertson Park
Kent Robertson is a nice park tucked away in South-East Huntsville. It’s the only one on the lineup with a full basketball court, and it makes a nice spot for walking as well.
In this park you’ll find:

- Pavilion
- Disc golf baskets
- Swing-set apart from playground

Southside Park
I love Southside for its dog parks and trails behind it. In my opinion, this one’s the best in terms of looks, plus there’s a decent amount of shade around it.
What this park has to offer:
- Archery range
- Large playground with surrounding tables and benches
- Backs up to Aldridge Creek Greenway
- Dogs park including separate enclosures for small dogs and large dogs
- Pavilion with tables and restrooms

Go South Huntsville
A park is a park, but the soccer arena and archery range are unique offerings for South Huntsville. Each of these are worth a visit, but make sure to take precaution from the heat. Check out our older article on keeping pets safe during the summer heat.
