As we are still in the heat of summer, thinking about running a 10K or 5K race right now might be pretty daunting. But any runner will likely tell you that running in the fall is a much more pleasant experience, and since we are just in the middle of August, you have time to get ready for some of these races happening in the fall.

22nd annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run

  • What: For 21 years, Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s Ribbon Run has helped women across North Alabama have had access to earlier breast cancer detection, advanced imaging and survivor support.
  • When: Saturday, October 18
  • Where: Downtown Huntsville/Twickenham

Wade Mountain Marathon

Runnin’ for Rescues 5K/10K

  • What: Support the Second Chance Shelter at this 5K/10K race through Boaz.
  • When: Saturday, November 22
  • Where: 400 Elizabeth Street, Boaz Rec Center

Ditto Landing 10K

  • What: Come out to the Huntsville Track Club’s Ditto Landing 10K, benefiting the HTC’s Harold & Louise Tinsley Scholarship Fund.
  • When: Sunday, November 30

Huntsville City FC Holiday Run

  • What: These races start and finish at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium, and include some challenging, albeit manageable terrain.
