11 exciting events to enjoy in Huntsville in March

March is just a few weeks away, and with that comes warmer weather and more cool stuff to do in and around Huntsville. From festivals to sporting events to live theater and more, the Rocket City is full of exciting events in the coming month.

Here are a few things to check out in and around Huntsville in March:

1. Huntsville Comic Convention – March 1 + 2

This incredible Comic-con features special guests Sherrilyn Kenyon — author of The League series — and Tracy Yardley, the Sonic comic book artist. Other guests include “Family Guy” artist Roberto Yun Rodriguez, “Bojack Horseman” animator Zachary Ryan and more.

2. Huntsville Havoc Hockey – 5 games

The Huntsville Havoc will play five home games at Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center in March. Themed nights include Grateful Dead Night, HCFC Night, Walking Dead Night, Wrestling Night and more.

3. Light Bites + Garden Insights – March 7

Engage with the Plant Science & Conservation department in an enlightening discussion on adaptive and resilient horticulture and conservation.

4. UAH Baseball vs. Delta State – March 8-9

The University of Alabama at Huntsville Chargers have started their baseball season, and will be in full swing — pun intended — in March. Check their schedule for more games.

5. Rocket City Reading Fest – March 10

Celebrate National Reading Month at the Orion Amphitheater. Stories are waiting to be discovered at this festival, from local authors showcasing their incredible work at the Authors’ Village in the Apollo South Dome, to the beloved HMCPL book-mobile.

6. Auburn Baseball vs. Troy – March 12

7. Jesus Christ Superstar – March 15-17

8. ‘Don’t Dress for Dinner’ – March 15-24

9. 47th Annual Ellen McAnelly Memorial St. Patrick’s Day Parade – March 16

The Annual Ellen McAnelly Memorial St. Patrick’s Day Parade is held in downtown Huntsville and has been a Huntsville tradition since 1978. It was started by the owner of Finnegan’s Pub, Ellen McAnelly – a native of Galway, Ireland.

10. OLLI Art Festival – March 29

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UAH is hosting a free, daylong event that begins with an Artists Forum in Chan Auditorium (Business Administration Building) on the UAH Campus, where a panel of three accomplished artists, Katrina Weber, Jahni Moore, and Jennifer Stottle Taylor will present examples of their art, share their journeys as artists and the path of their careers.

11. Rocket City Comedy Festival – March 30

Some of the hottest comedians will be on stage together at the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall — Sommore, Lavell Crawford, Bill Bellamy and Tony Roberts — for as legendary night of comedy.
