15 amazing weekend events in Huntsville β markets, music + more
It’s been a big week in the Rocket City: new businesses are opening, the drought continues and Santa Claus is finally coming to town. Now, it’s time for a these weekend events to match that same energy.
Veteran’s Day is this Saturday, and there are tons of special events around Huntsville to celebrate. Whether heading to Veteran’s Day events or not, make sure you thank the service members in your life and community.
Live Music
This weekend brings a mix of live music events to town, including hip hop, disco and jazz. A Veteran’s Day salute concert will also honor our service members this Friday night.
- 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop, Dirty South Edition: Nov. 10 at 6:30PM, the Orion Amphitheater. See Juvenile, David Banner, Twista, Paul Wall, Mia X and Pastor Troy and Bun B of UGK at this awesome mash-up of hip hop legends.
- Veteran Salute Concert: Nov. 10 at 7:30PM, Trinity United Methodist Church. Kick off your Veteran’s Day weekend with this patriotic salute to our nation’s heros.
- Disco Night with DJ Jerm: Nov. 10 at from 8PM to midnight, Electric Belle. Doors open at 7:30PM. Bust out those bellbottoms, because costumes are welcome here.
- Jazz Brunch: Nov. 11 from 12PM to 3PM, the Camp. Black Collar Trio featuring Nick and Newt will play at this family friendly and pet friendly brunch. No cover charge!
- Mania – the ABBA Tribute: Nov. 11 at 7:30PM, Mars Music Hall. “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” an ABBA tribute any day, any time.
Shows, markets, events
The Huntsville Veteran’s Day Parade is this weekend, plus holiday markets are beginning to bring the most wonderful time of year to town. These markets will be the final event of the season for the market at MidCity and Village of Providence.
- Veteran’s Day Parade: Nov. 11 at 11AM, Downtown Huntsville. Celebrate the men and women who’ve served our country at the Huntsville Veteran’s Day Parade downtown this weekend.
- “The Book of Will”: Nov. 10-11 at 7:30PM, Nov. 12 at 2PM, Von Braun Center Playhouse. Fans of Shakespeare will love this funny play about what to do with the Bard’s plays after he dies.
- Holiday Market at The Village of Providence: Nov. 11 from 9AM-2PM, Village of Providence. Check out this holiday market, which will be the last of the season for the Village of Providence.
- Holiday Market at MidCity: Nov. 12 from 11AM-4PM, The Camp. Just like above, this holiday market will be the last of the markets at MidCity this year.
- Out Loud: Nov. 12 from 6PM-8PM, Straight to Ale. This open mic night is the perfect place to share your poetry, short stories or anything literary.
Sports + fitness
The weather might be a little confused, but it’s the perfect time to get outside (or stay indoors) and enjoy some of Huntsville’s awesome sports events.
- 2023 Veterans Cup: Nov. 10-11, Huntsville Ice Sports Center. This two day showcase is a tournament between the University of Alabama, University of Alabama-Huntsville, Auburn University and Middle Tennessee State University hockey teams.
- Huntsville Havoc vs Roanoke: Nov. 10 at 7PM, Propst Arena. The Havoc is back and ready to face the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs.
- 2023 GSC Soccer Championships: Nov. 9-12, John Hunt Park Championship Fields. The Gulf South Conference plays their men and women’s championships this weekend.
- NJCAA Cross Country Championships: Nov. 11-14, John Hunt Cross Country Running Park. The National Junior College Athletic Association will also host its cross country championship in Huntsville this weekend.
- Bearded Warriors Charity Golf Tournament: Nov. 13 from 12PM to 7PM, Huntsville Country Club. Although not technically over the weekend, we had to include this important event that raises money for Veteran Suicide Prevention.
