This weekend in Huntsville is full of cool events (mostly holiday-related) to enjoy — everything from sporting events to live music and stand-up comedy.

You’re sure to find something fun to do among these suggestions:

1. Rocket City Christmas Light Show at Toyota Field

The Rocket City Christmas Light Show features nearly one million lights on display, complete with musical synchronization and a “Santa’s Beach Party” theme. After driving through the show, guests can walk inside the ballpark for the Winter Wonderland to experience holiday activities, hot beverages, fire pits, character appearances and visits from Santa Claus.

2. The Living Christmas Tree

Don’t miss this choral and orchestral presentation of Christmas music presented by First Baptist Church of Huntsville.

3. 12 Nights of Santa

Twelve Nights of Santa has everything imaginable: write a letter to The Big Guy, decorate a gingerbread cookie, visit with Santa, play in snow, make an ornament and more!

4. Come Closer: A Live Nativity

Come Closer: A Live Nativity hosted by Valley Fellowship Church and Christian Academy is coming to Huntsville this December and the cast/animals can’t wait to help tell the story of what Christmas is all about!

5. The Nightmare Before Christmas Costume Contest

Head down to the MidCity District Friday night — and don’t forget your costume — for the Nightmare Before Christmas Costume Party. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes, and party-goers will enjoy live music, great drinks and tons of fun.

6. Huntsville Havoc vs. Fayetteville Marksmen

The Huntsville Havoc are at home this weekend for two games against the Fayetteville Marksmen. Friday night’s game is “Wizard Night,” and Saturday night is “Adult Jersey Night.”

7. The Nutcracker

You cannot celebrate the holiday season without seeing “The Nutcracker” at least once. Huntsville Ballet puts on one of the best performances of the classic ballet every year and is accompanied by the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.

8. Arts Huntsville’s Christkindlmarket

Arts Huntsville and The Orion Amphitheater have teamed up again for Huntsville’s Christkindlmarket. This unique shopping experience will feature over 60 artists showcasing a variety of mediums throughout Apollo South.

9. A Christmas Carol

If you are looking for holiday shows, you can’t miss this one. Huntsville’s most beloved family holiday tradition returns to the Fantasy Playhouse stage for the 34th year this December.

10. ‘Make Your Own!’ Holiday Table Garlands

In this hands-on class, your instructor, Rebecca Turk, will cover key trees and shrubs to grow as well as how to make an six foot table garland using those plants.

Trading cards have made a serious comeback in popularity in the last few years. This age-old hobby that transcends generations is on full display at this show at the VBC.

12. 14th Annual Sippin’ Cider Festival

Participating merchants prepare and offer complimentary sample tastings of their favorite hot cider recipe. Cider enthusiasts will vote by ballot for their favorite, and the cider receiving the most votes wins the coveted Cider Cup.

13. 6th Annual Rocket City Trombone Christmas
