Madison native and Bob Jones High School graduate Rachel Entrekin made history this week by running 250 miles in 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 48 seconds (that’s averaging about 13 minutes a mile) in the Cocodona 250 Ultramarathon.

She didn’t just set a record for women in the race, either. She set the course record for any category, becoming the first woman to win the race outright.

The race has taken place since 2021 in Arizona, and runs from Black Canyon City to Flagstaff. Entrekin first entered the race in 2024 and has improved on her time each year. In 2025, she won the women’s division and placed 4th overall.

She not only broke the previous record. She shattered it into pieces, beating the record set by Kilian Korth by more than an hour.

“During the race I kept repeating the mantra, ‘If anyone’s going to win this, why can’t it be you?'”

Rachel Entrekin

Entrekin is a 2009 graduate of Bob Jones High School and a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Exercise Science.

She began running marathons in 2011, and from 2022 to 2024 won eight 100-mile-plus races, according to UltraRunning Magazine.

She currently lives in Conifer, Colorado, a suburb of Denver.
