Plans for the Market at Hays Farm are moving along swimmingly, according to the Huntsville Business Journal.

The new development is conveniently located near Redstone Arsenal Gate 1 and Grissom High School and currently consists of a Publix, a Staples and more than 100,000 square feet of retail space available for rent.

The Market is part of the larger Hayes Farm development, which will include neighborhoods with single-family homes, apartments, a public park, an entertainment district and restaurant and retail space.

Here’s what South Huntsville residents have to look forward to:

1. Restaurants

At least four restaurants have already rented space at Hays Farm, though only three are public: Amerigo, Tom Brown’s Restaurant and Wingstop.

Amerigo is an Italian restaurant with locations in Tennessee and Mississippi. Visit the restaurant online to get an idea of menu offerings—just know that menus differ from location to location based on the availability of local ingredients.

Madison residents recognize Tom Brown’s Restaurant as a go-to spot for fine dining. Work hasn’t yet begun on the South Huntsville location, but we expect it’ll be just as chic as the restaurant in Madison.

Wingstop is a favorite for fast, delicious hot wings. With a variety of sauces and dry rubs, delicious french fries and some of the best ranch dressing on the market, it’s a great spot for a quick bite.

2. Health and wellness

Three other businesses have also been announced, including:

Jeff Enfinger, developer and general contractor, told the Huntsville Business Journal that smaller businesses are the target for remaining space.

“You will have restaurants and some small-scale shopping. It will have some bars with food, restaurants and some boutique shops. Nothing big box but small-scale shopping.”

3. Live, work and play

Another primary goal is to make Hays Farm into a place where South Huntsville can live, work and play. The proximity to important spots like Redstone Arsenal and Grissom High School makes the development’s functionality paramount.

Homes: Goodall Homes has started two subdivisions in the area, each consisting of single-family homes with prices starting around $500,000.

  • The Forest: 3-7-bedroom homes; 2815-4251 square feet
  • The Forge: 3-6-bedroom homes; 2,006-3,168 square feet

Apartments: Liam at Hayes Farm is being developed by the Bomasada group, a luxury property specialist, and will be available in 2023.

Urban Park: The Huntsville City Council committed $3.6 million toward a 9-acre public park in the Hays Farm development, serving a similar function as Big Spring Park in Downtown Huntsville.

Entertainment District: Ultimately, the Market area will become an approved entertainment district, with bars and restaurants for Huntsville locals to enjoy.

We are excited about the possibilities presented by the new development in South Huntsville. Are you? Let us know what businesses you want to see on Facebook and Instagram.
