The City of Madison recently wrapped up their 25th annual Madison Employee of the Year Recognition ceremony.

This longstanding tradition has been a way for the city to celebrate outstanding public servants that go above and beyond what is expected from someone in their line of work.

Tyler Drew

👨‍🚒Madison Firefighter of the Year: Tyler Drew (Driver/Paramedic) joined Madison Fire and Rescue in 2018.

Drew is known for his mentoring and training ability—he plays a key role in ensuring new firefighters find success. He has a hand in new hire orientation, Fire Academy preparation and post-graduate training.

He has shown exceptional dedication to his craft and continues to innovate and improve.

Teresa Taylor-Duncan

Teresa is known for her compassion + ability to mentor new officers (City of Madison)

👮‍♀️Madison Police Officer of the Year: Teresa Taylor-Duncan is a detective serving in the Investigations Division.

In this role, she specializes in special victim cases involving women and children. In the past year, her expert detective work led to 24 arrests, many of which were special victim cases.

Alongside her role in the Investigations Division, she also leads the Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) courses, where she teaches girls ages 12+ critical skills in awareness, prevention and self-defense.

Chris Holmes

⭐Madison Employee of the Year: Chris Holmes is the Operations Superintendent and began his career with the City of Madison in 2017.

Holmes earned his degree in Forestry Management, which he now uses to enchance Madison’s parks and greenways. The Facilities maintenance crew has greatly improved the quality of the city’s public spaces since working under Holmes’ leadership.

He lives by the personal motto, “we don’t make excuses, we get it done,” which is reflected in his work ethic.
