Here’s more on these talented Trash Pandas:
Ryan Murphy
At the beginning of the month, Trash Pandas relief pitcher Luke Murphy was called up by the Angels, marking the right-handed hurler’s first call-up to the majors.
The 24-year-old has been one of the most dominant relievers in all of Minor League Baseball in 2026. Murphy leads all of Minor League Baseball with 18 saves while posting a 0.71 ERA over 34 appearances, allowing just three earned runs in 38 innings.
He has struck out 47 batters while issuing only 10 walks.
Blake Weiman
Pitcher Blake Weiman was called up August 4 to the Angels, the 30-year-old lefty’s first venture into the big leagues.
In 14 appearances, Weiman went 1-0 with a 2.30 ERA, one save, 19 strikeouts, a 0.96 WHIP and held opponents to a .200 batting average over 15.2 innings.
He finished his Double-A stint allowing just four earned runs while striking out 19 against only three walks, including a stretch of five consecutive scoreless appearances from July 1-11 in which he struck out seven over 5.2 innings without issuing a walk.
Tim Leveque
The Los Angeles Angels announced last week that Trash Pandas pitching coach Tim Leveque has been named the club’s interim pitching coach as part of a series of changes to the organization’s Major League pitching staff—namely the departures of Angels pitching coach Mike Maddux, bullpen coach Dom Chiti and assistant pitching coach Darryl Scott.
Leveque was in his first season in the Angels organization after spending the previous 20 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Trash Pandas finish up their final homestand of the 2026 season this week, hosting Columbus each day through Sunday, August 23.
