5 Huntsville-area churches hosting Easter sunrise services in 2022—What you need to know

Sunrise services on Easter morning are a tradition like no other. There’s nothing like taking a quiet, early moment to reflect on the holiday alongside fellow members of the faith.

In the Huntsville area, there are several opportunities to attend a sunrise service this Easter (which falls on April 17 this year, by the way). Here are five we’ve found:

1. Epworth United Methodist Church

Epworth United Methodist Church, which you can find atop Chapman Mountain in Northeast Huntsville, will be celebrating Easter Sunday with a sunrise service in the church’s bottom parking lot. Stay after the service for a time of fellowship with an Easter breakfast.

2. Valley United Methodist Church

Looking for a Jones Valley easter service? Head to Valley UMC. They’ve also got a full slate of pre-easter events lined up, like a Palm Sunday Potluck and Egg Hunt and a Maundy Thursday service.

3. Cross Roads Church

Cross Roads Church in Owens Cross Roads will also be hosting several Easter services in addition to their Easter Sunday sunrise service. RSVP now for their Maundy Thursday or Good Friday services.

4. Saint Joseph Catholic Church

Celebrate Easter morning on Monte Sano with Saint Joseph Catholic Church. The yearly tradition will feature Mass led by Father Joseph Lubrano, SDS and is open for anyone interested.
