How many weddings are you going to this year? (Emily Phillips / Hville Blast)

2022 is shaping up to be a record year for weddings, with 2.6 million couples expected to tie the knot by the end of the year, in contrast to pre-pandemic counts of 2.2 million yearly. Brides, bridesmaids and maids (and matrons) of honor know that more weddings=more bachelorette weekends.

When it was time for me to start planning my sister’s bachelorette weekend as her matron of honor, I knew I didn’t need to look any further than right here in Huntsville.

Here are five reasons you should consider hosting your next bachelorette weekend in the Rocket City.

1. Options for every kind of bride

Is your bride artsy? A nature lover? A history buff? A science enthusiast?

Good news: Huntsville has something for all of those people and more.

2. Delicious food options

Huntsville is also becoming a haven for local foodies. When I planned our bachelorette party, three Huntsville eateries were featured in the weekend’s menu:

  • Commerce Kitchen: What’s a bachelorette weekend without brunch? I made a reservation for our group at Commerce Kitchen—no one was disappointed.
  • Cookie Fix: I grabbed some frozen cookie dough from Cookie Fix so that we could all have a late-night snack. My flavor recommendation: First Date.
  • The Moon Bakeshop: Since our brunch reservations weren’t until 11, I ordered a box of assorted pastries from The Moon Bakeshop downtown for everyone to snack on while we got ready. I will definitely be placing another order.

3. Craft trails to follow

Downtown Huntsville Inc’s craft trails are designed to highlight local artisanship in Huntsville through beer, coffee and cocktails. Pick up a punchcard at any of the featured locations and get to exploring some of the best Huntsville has to offer.

What’s a bachelorette outing without photos to capture it? We made sure to hit up the new Chandelier Mural on Clinton Ave., but Huntsville has more than a dozen different murals to choose from. Check out Downtown Huntsville’s Secret Art Trail for a list of other downtown spots, including:

  • Dustin Timbrook’s Koi Mural on Spring St.
  • Jessie Andrews’ Celestial Symphony on Holmes Ave.
  • Kate LaRocca, Katie Rosetta, Ann Vann, Christina Wegman + Serpouhie Wegman’s Color Walk on Clinton Ave.

5. Scenic stays
