Madison Parks and Recreation this week announced upgrades to eight neighborhood parks throughout the city.

The City received funding in the form of $300,000 in grants for these improvements. Here’s what we know:

8 neighborhood parks will see improvements by spring

The eight parks currently seeing upgrades are:

  • Cambridge
  • The Cedars
  • Mill Creek
  • Fieldcrest
  • Leathertree
  • Stavemill
  • West Highlands
  • Windsor

A matching funds grant from Game Time out of Ft. Payne allowed Madison to double their normal upgrades for the park system. The upgrades have already started to take place, and the city hopes to have everything completed by mid-spring.

“We are excited to receive this grant, allowing us to modernize many of our older, established parks. Each of our parks is heavily used, and these upgrades improve both safety and fun for all who use the parks.”

Kory Alfred, Director of Recreation in Madison
