Academy for Music at Calhoun CC among new building permits

Of the eight new building permits issued this past week across Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million, three are for projects in the Huntsville area.

One of those is a $14 million permit for a project at Calhoun Community College. Here’s more:

A $14 million building permit was issued for Cooper Construction at Calhoun Community College for the Alabama Center for the Arts Academy for Music and Movement.

Here are some details:

The state-of-the-art, 14,000-square-foot, two-story facility will provide expanded space for music and dance programs, serving both current and future students.
The new facility will be located adjacent to The Brick, with an additional 3,170-square-foot storage building to be constructed just north of the alley between First and Second Avenues in downtown Decatur.
Construction is expected to take about 14 months, with the facility slated to open in January 2026.
