Let’s March! Alabama A&M marching band selected for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Some amazing news was revealed Wednesday morning on the campus of Alabama A&M University, as the Marching Maroon and White marching band has been selected to participate in the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2023.
The band was surprised Wednesday morning by the announcement on campus by Macy’s representatives.
Marching Maroon and White just 1 of 9 bands chosen for parade
Macy’s Parade officials made a special announcement inviting the Marching Maroon and White to the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, working secretly with school officials including band director Carlton Wright, to surprise members of the marching band with the news that they have been selected out of hundreds of nationwide applicants to be one of nine selected marching bands in the 97th edition of the annual holiday tradition.
The news was at a special surprise gathering arranged by school staff:

The Marching Maroon and White will join a very select group of marching bands from Alabama who have been chosen to participate in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Alabama marching bands who have performed in the parade include:
- University of Alabama
- Miles College
- Hoover High School
- Homewood High School
- Jacksonville State University
- Pinson Valley High School
- Baker High School
- Albertville High School
