ASCTE's Sentinel Center among new high-dollar building permits

Six new building permits were issued across Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million, and half of those are for projects here in the Huntsville area.

One of those is a $12.5 million student activity center at the Alabama School of Cyber Technology & Engineering.

New student activity center at ASCTE

The Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering in Huntsville is getting a new student activity center. This activity center will add to what is already 130,000 square feet of space at the school.

The Sentinel Center will include:

A 1,100-seat gymnasium
Basketball and volleyball courts
Fully equipped locker rooms
Multifunctional office spaces
A specialized band room
Theater facilities
Robotics space
Archery practice areas
A mezzanine
Concessions, and other extracurricular areas

Brasfield & Gorrie is listed as the lead contractor on this project, which carries an estimated cost of $12.5 million.
