After a wet couple of days, we can now set our sights on a pleasant weekend weather-wise, and a perfect time to get out and about in the Huntsville area this weekend.

Whether you are looking for something cool to do for Mother’s Day (check out some brunch options here) or just an outing for you and your friends, there’s plenty going on in the Rocket City!

1. Space Monkeys: The Adventures of Baker + Able

A story of friendship, sacrifice, and dreaming big, this world premiere play will inspire all ages through a special Alabama story set at our very own U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

2. AHSAA State Soccer Championships

Girls and boys soccer teams from all over the state have come to Huntsville this weekend to capture a state championship. Head to John Hunt park and catch the action.

3. Concerts on the Dock featuring The Nerve

Head out to Lowe Mill Friday for a free live music show featuring The Nerve. This is part of Lowe Mill’s weekly Concerts on the Dock series.

4. Trash Pandas vs. Mississippi

6. Huntsville City FC vs. Toronto

Find some fresh produce, arts and crafts and more from local vendors at great prices at the Madison Farmers Market.

9. Butterfly Release at Huntsville Botanical Garden

Guests of all ages will enjoy sharing in the magic of safely releasing live butterflies into the Purdy Butterfly House. 

10. Guided Hike at Chapman Mountain

11. Athens Art Walk

Athens Arts League and High Cotton Arts are kicking off two event series this weekend for art and music lovers, the Art Walk on The Square Summer Series and Art After Hours.

12. Camp to Amp Festival

This free, day-long event connects MidCity District’s The Camp to the Orion Amphitheater. Catch live music by Emily Joseph, 5 O Clock Charlie, Moontown Music and more.

13. Rocket City Kittypalooza

This is a day dedicated to our feline friends. Head out to Lowe Mill for this celebration featuring adoptions, cool information and — of course — cats.

14. ‘The Mountaintop’

Theatre Huntsville presents this gripping re-imagining of the night before the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
