Foraging Hike at Blevins Gap
(Moderate/2 hours/Around 3 miles) Spring is in the air and edible plants are in the forest! Join forager Casey Lanier at the Fanning Trailhead of Blevins Gap to search out the plants and fungi that can be harvested and prepared at home. The route for this hike will be determined the day of the event.
A FEW NOTES: This hike is educational, so if you’re looking for a walk with no long stops to talk, it’s probably not what you’re looking for. The hike is scheduled to last 2 hours, but it may run long. This hike around the preserve is not intended for collection or consumption of species, but more for identification and educational knowledge.
Location: Blevins Gap Nature Preserve North (Fanning Trailhead) – 2275 Cecil Ashburn Dr SE, Huntsville, AL 35802
Please note, this preserve has multiple trailheads – be sure to go to the right one!
