Join the City of Huntsville on Saturday, July 4 for an afternoon and evening of patriotic fun in Downtown Huntsville. Enjoy live music, family-friendly activities, the American Eras Parade, and a spectacular fireworks finale as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday together.

Big Spring Park
Saturday, July 4
Festivities begin at 4:00 PM

Event Schedule
The festivities kick off at 4 p.m. with a vendor market, food trucks, historical reenactments, educational activities, and music from a live DJ in Big Spring Park.

At 5 p.m., the American Eras Parade steps off through downtown.

The 6 p.m. Opening Ceremony is followed by live music from Groove and Jazz McKenzie with her 10-piece band.

The evening concludes at 9 p.m. with a fireworks spectacular accompanied by the Huntsville Concert Band. Fireworks can be seen from Big Spring Park. 

Know Before You Go
Guests are welcome to bring:
  • Blankets and lawn chairs
  • Coolers and snacks

With warm temperatures expected, be sure to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and seek shade throughout the day.

Parade Route
The American Eras Parade begins at the Veterans Memorial and travels:
  • West on Monroe Street
  • South on Jefferson Street
  • West on Williams Avenue

The parade concludes near Monroe Street.

Parking

Free parking will be available all day in all City-owned parking garages and on-street parking spaces.

Road Closures & Traffic
 
The Huntsville Police Department will manage traffic throughout the day. Road closures will occur in phases:
  • 8:00 AM: Monroe Street between Jefferson Street and Washington Street
  • 12:00 PM: Southbound Church Street and portions of Williams Avenue
  • 3:00 PM: Microwave Dave Way and southbound Meridian Street
  • 4:00 PM: Remaining streets along the parade route
  • 8:30–9:30 PM: Heart of Huntsville Drive

Following the parade, some streets will remain closed until approximately 11:00 PM. Please allow extra travel time and remain alert for increased pedestrian activity throughout downtown.

Celebrate America’s 250th in Downtown Huntsville

Whether you’re coming for the parade, live entertainment, local vendors, or the fireworks finale, Downtown Huntsville is the place to celebrate Independence Day.
