Huntsville Animal Services is participating in the nationwide campaign to “Clear the Shelters” this month. Through Thursday, August 31, anyone looking for an adult dog or cat can take one home as a part of this no-cost adoption program.
Dozens of animals are waiting for their next home
As usual at this time of year, far too many animals arrive at the shelter and are not being adopted. According to Dr. Karen Sheppard, though, it’s been even harder to keep up with the influx of animals.
“We see a higher intake in summer, but this year, the doors were blown off and we’re struggling.”

Aubie and June Bug, pictured above, are just two of the fur babies with big hearts waiting to be adopted. June Bug is currently recovering from a car accident and getting stronger everyday.
How you can help
A new record of 161,000 animals found a home last year thanks to the “Clear the Shelters” campaign. You can help set an even higher record this year by giving at least one of these adorable souls a happy place to live.
Adoption fees have been waived on most adult pets, but some exclusions do apply. Your future pet will already be fixed, up-to-date with vaccinations, a microchip for identification, a City license and a free bag of dry food. Visit the Huntsville Animal Services website and meet the list of available pets.
