The first weekend of December is here, and there’s plenty of cool stuff happening this weekend in the Huntsville area. Yes, we are supposed to get some rain, but the temperatures won’t be freezing — so that’s a plus.

This weekend includes some diverse genres of live music shows here in the Huntsville area. Check out these shows:

  • Alabama: Dec. 1, Propst Arena, 7PM. The legendary country band Alabama makes a stop in Huntsville on their Roll on North America Tour.
  • Candlelit Christmas w/ Alex Banks: Dec. 1-2, Straight to Ale, Fri. 7PM. Enjoy an unforgettable evening filled with the spirit of the season as saxophonist Alex Banks takes you on a journey through timeless holiday classics.
  • Croce Plays Croce: Dec. 2, Mars Music Hall, 8PM. A.J. Croce performs Croce Plays Croce, a special night of music featuring a complete set of classics by his late father Jim Croce.
  • Eric Rhodes Band: Dec. 2, Furniture Factory (Downtown), 8PM. This band brings hot guitars and cool saxophones, playing your favorite blues-rock and R&B classics.
  • 25th Rocket City TubaChristmas: Dec. 3, First Baptist Church of Huntsville, 3PM. Experience the euphonious sounds of the tuba, euphonium, and baritone for an evening filled with melodious brass music.

  • Mrs. Claus’ Snow Stroll on Gas Light Alley: Dec. 1. Stovehouse, 5:30PM-8:30PM. You won’t want to miss this magical snowy destination that highlights the women-owned, local-owned small businesses of Gas Light Alley.
  • Holiday Cinema Series: Dec. 1, Orion Amphitheater, 6PM. Catch a screening of the holiday film “Polar Express” at the Orion.
  • “A Christmas Carol”: Dec. 1-3, VBC Fantasy Playhouse, Fri. 7PM; Sat. 1PM, 6PM, Sun. 1PM, 6PM. See the classic Christmas tale based on Charles Dickens’ masterpiece.

  • Running for Africa: Dec. 2, Jack Allen Soccer Complex, 8AM. Help raise funds for children in Zambia by participating in either the 5K race or 1-mile fun run.
  • SEC Championship Watch Party: Dec. 2, Moe’s BBQ (Madison), 2:30PM. The UA Alumni Association’s Madison County Chapter hosts this party to watch the Tide take on Georgia.
  • Ho, Ho, Ho, Get Up & Go 5K Race: Dec. 3, 817 Adams Street, 9AM. This Christmas-themed 5k begins in front of Huntsville Junior High and runs through Twickenham and 5 Points.
  • Santa Fun Run: Dec. 3, Big Spring Park, 4PM. There’s more than one run downtown this Sunday. This one is a 1-mile fun run around Big Spring Park.
  • UAH Basketball vs. West Alabama: Dec. 3, Spragins Hall, Women’s game 2PM, Men’s game 4PM. The UAH Men’s and Women’s hoops teams take on West Alabama.
