Huntsville International Airport was recently nominated by Newsweek for “Best Small Airport in the US”.
Now, the results are finally in, and HSV took the top spot. Learn more below:

Huntsville competed with other small airports nationwide for the title of best in the US.
The airports were nominated by a panel of experts who narrowed the selection down to 15 airports, voted on by Newsweek readers and ranked as follows:
- 1. Huntsville International Airport (AL)
- 2. Lehigh Valley International Airport (PA)
- 3. Seattle Paine Field (WA)
- 4. Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (CA)
- 5. Bangor International Airport (ME)
- 6. Missoula Montana Airport (MT)
- 7. Springfield-Branson National Airport (MO)
- 8. Wilmington International Airport (MC)
- 9. Blue Grass Airport (KY)
- 10. Wichita Eisenhower Airport (KS)

Why did it win?
HSV sees almost 1.5 million passengers each year and offers nonstop flights to 14 destinations. Huntsville International is also known for:
- Being clean and easy to get through security and baggage.
- There are several restaurant options to choose from while waiting on a flight.
- Offers ample parking with reasonable overnight rates.
- Has convenient rental car and taxi services waiting for passengers once they land.
People around town like to joke about how expensive it can be to fly out of Huntsville, but slightly higher costs are the norm for small airports. Overall, the airport is a convenient, clean and safe place for locals and tourists alike to fly and connect to flights all over the world.
