A Huntsville local + WHNT News 19 anchor, Lauren Layton, was awarded with an Emmy at the 40th Midsouth Emmy Awards in Nashville. The award ceremony recognizes excellence in local TV all around the Tennessee Valley + North Carolina.

Her Emmy-winning article covers newborn loss + the nationwide nonprofit Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep—an organization that travels to nearby hospitals + takes remembrance portraits of families with the child they will sadly leave the hospital without. The article then goes on to highlight a family’s experience with the nonprofit + how the portraits aided in their grieving process.
