What is Little Free Library?
The Little Free Library adds a fun way for literary folks and casual readers alike to build a community of literacy in Huntsville.
The organization champions expanding access to literary materials and building a global network of readers.
Each box holds an assortment of books that all ages can read. Additionally, LFL specializes in distributing diverse books and providing books in areas that need it most.
By collaborating with schools, public libraries and community organizations, LFL removes many barriers to accessing books for readers.
How does it work?
To participate, you can swap a book in the library with one of your own or take a book and return it later.
Little Free Library is based on an honor system so it’s up to you to decide what to do. The aim of the project is to continue cycling literature throughout the community by encouraging books to be swapped rather than taken.
Also, it’s way more fun when you share knowing that someone you’ve never met could pick up your old book!
How do I stay updated?
To find out where these libraries are in the city, there is an app called Little Free Library where you can search your surrounding area, get directions, check into these libraries and even start your own Little Free Library.
Whether you’re a bookworm, student or just someone who wants to do a little good for the community, make sure you stop by one of these libraries.
