New private school planned for old Butler High campus

A new private school is planned for the property that was once the Butler High School campus in Huntsville. Kingdom Heights Preparatory School, a proposed K-12 school , will be affiliated with The Rock Family Worship Center.
The plan is to renovate the former Butler facility to make way for the new school in the next year. Here’s more:
What’s replacing the Butler High School facility?
The Rock Family Worship Center posted to social media last week an update to its plans for the Kingdom Heights Preparatory School, saying it plans to embark on a $4.65 million renovation project to upgrade the Butler facility.
The Rock currently uses the site at 3401 Holmes Avenue for worship services.
The school will be a K-12 Christian school, which is expected to open in the fall of 2025, depending on fundraising efforts.
Phase 1, a $4.6 million project, will include:
- Classrooms
- STEM labs
- Music/arts Studios
- Tables, chairs, teaching stations, wall boards, digital interactive displays,and cabinetry
- Fire safety upgrade
- Athletic facilities lighting, bleachers, and gym renovations
- Playgrounds
The Master Plan, which will cost an additional $17 million, includes:
- New entrances
- Signage
- Additional sports complexes
- Covered walkways
- New administration building
