A cooperative effort was announced between Synergy Sports, Limestone County, the City of Decatur and Crossroads LLC to bring a new mixed use sports complex to the Huntsville/Decatur area.

The proposed location of the future complex will be on Highway 20, near the I-65 Huntsville-Decatur interchange.

It will have multiple outdoor baseball/softball diamonds + other flat fields that can host football, soccer or most other outdoor field sports. In addition to this, a future indoor facility is also expected to be constructed, which will increase programming abilities.

More information on the timeline of development will be shared within 1-2 months.

Economic impact of the sports complex

Sports complexes, like the Jack Allen recreation Complex in Decatur, are great at fostering community and giving kids a safe place to play (DMCT)

In addition to the sports infrastructure being built, new residential, commercial and hospitality businesses are also planned to be constructed.

Facilities like this are often great economically for the area they are built in. Sports tourism is a huge industry and tournaments are held year-round—which will boost the local economy.

This venue represents a significant investment in the future of the region by creating a venue capable of attracting tournaments, teams, and families from across Alabama, Tennessee and the Southeast.

Synergy Sports

Synergy Sports, based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, is assisting with the project and helping guide the sports tourism process.

The organization has extensive experience in planning sports facilities like this, so their participation in the partnership will play a key role as they advance planning, public engagement and implementation.
