NEW: TVA urges Tennessee Valley residents to conserve power tomorrow
Reading time: 2 minutes
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) urges residents to conserve power, specifically between the hours of 6AM and 10AM on Wednesday.
Frigid temperatures near 0 degrees and windchills in the negatives are creating record high demand for power.
How you can conserve power
Conserve power using the following tips that TVA recommends:
- Set your thermostat between 65 and 68 degrees
- Open blinds and curtains on sunny sides of your home
- Unplug unused electrical outlets
- Unblock any air vents
- Turn off non-essential appliances
- Block cold air from coming through door and window cracks using weatherstrips
- Postpone use of hot water
- Turn off lights when not in use
