This Madison mom does it all.
Meet Evette Burleigh—a mother of three and grandmother of one with amazing time management skills. She works full-time for the state, studies to get her master’s degree and still has time for some fascinating hobbies.
However, it hasn’t always been easy for Evette—read on to learn how she’s become a time management expert + how you can become one too.
She went back to school to provide for her family
As a mom of three, Evette knows how to be resourceful and resilient. In 2007, when her husband passed, she went back to school to finish her bachelor’s degree to provide for her family.
However, her interest in education is not only practical—Evette prides herself in being a lifelong learner. After successfully raising her three children, Evette felt called to obtain her master’s degree.
That’s why she knew the timing was perfect when her inbox dinged with an email showing her how much money she could save at The University of North Alabama (UNA).
“I was already thinking about continuing my education and getting a master’s degree in writing. So, as soon as I got the email, I saw it as a sign. I looked into it and found out all the requirements. It was quite easy—I got enrolled and will graduate August 2023.”

She saves money by getting her master’s degree from UNA
Because of UNA’s partnership with the Alabama State Personnel Department (SPD), Evette receives a significant scholarship and doesn’t have to take out loans.
She currently works for the Department of Labor, but she has always loved writing. In her free time, she crafts poems and works on an evolving mystery novel.
UNA’s online master degree programs give her the flexibility she needs to pursue graduate work in Technical Writing while maintaining her hours at her full-time position.

She still has time for all her favorite hobbies
When she’s not crunching numbers or completing coursework, Evette is studying Hebrew, practicing the keyboard and ballroom dancing.
She’s an expert in time management—she gets to enjoy her favorite hobbies all while furthering her career.
“I study Hebrew on an app that plays the audio through my car. I typically utilize my driving time to do my lesson. It all comes down to time management, and being able to do my classes online makes it so much easier.”
