UAH College of Education gets new name—here’s why

The University of Alabama in Huntsville has changed the name of its College of Education. The school university last week that the college will become the College of Education, Sport and Human Sciences at the start of the 2025-2026 academic year.
Here’s why:
UAH College of Education will have a new name

The name change was proposed and approved earlier this month at The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees meeting in Birmingham.
The name was changed to reflect the wider array of fields being taught at the school. These programs include applied behavior analysis; sport and fitness management; and child, family and community development.
“The UAH College of Education has been supporting our students in many different disciplines for more than a decade. As the educational landscape continues to change, we felt it was imperative that we re-brand the college to connect with our vision and strategic plan for the future.”

The College of Education focuses on collaborative, elementary, English Speakers of Other Languages and secondary teacher preparation as well as exercise science and sport and fitness management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
More than 400 students are currently enrolled in the college.
