What’s closed in the Huntsville area for MLK Day

January 20th is a national holiday, celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday (we have several events happening in town this week celebrating the life of MLK, by the way), which means some businesses and services may be closed Monday.

What’s closed on MLK Day
Most businesses will be open Monday, but government services (federal and local) will likely be unavailable and offices will be closed. Here’s the rundown:

- Alabama Constitution Village
- All banks in the Huntsville area
- Burritt on the Mountain
- Calhoun Community College
- Drake State
- Early Works Museum
- Huntsville and Madison City offices
- Huntsville, Madison city and county garbage pickup
- Huntsville City Schools
- Huntsville Depot
- Huntsville Museum of Art
- Huntsville Utilities
- Huntsville-Madison County Public Libraries
- Madison City Schools
- Madison County Schools
- Madison County offices and courts
- Redstone Arsenal
- University of Alabama in Huntsville
Open:
Barring any changes due to winter weather, most restaurants and retail stores will operate under regular business hours Monday. Here are some that will be open:
- ALDI
- CVS pharmacies
- FedEx (FedEx Express and FedEx Group Economy will be operating on a modified service schedule)
- Huntsville Botanical Garden
- Huntsville/Madison County Visitors Center
- Publix
- Target
- UPS
- U.S. Space & Rocket Center
- Walgreens
- Walmart
The next federal holiday this year is President’s Day on Mon., Feb. 19.
