The opening of the Orion Amphitheater topped the list of Huntsville’s biggest openings of 2022, but the Amphitheater’s first shows were just the beginning of all the excitement headed to Huntsville’s booming MidCity District.
This month, we’re particularly excited about the opening of Jeff & Blues, which will be Apollo Park’s premier destination for great music, inventive drinks and private events. Read on for more info.
Inside Jeff & Blues
If you visited Winter Park at the Orion, you probably spotted a wooden building in Apollo Park behind the North Box Office. That’s the home of Jeff & Blues, the Rocket City’s one and only “dive barn.”
The bar has a rustic, vintage aesthetic that’s equal parts cozy and cool. If you’re looking for your newest patio season hang, this is it.
What to expect
If you attended Après Ski Ya 2022—the Jeff & Blues New Years Eve Party—you got a small taste of what to expect from the venue this year.
Had to miss out? Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Great live music from local artists
- Fun drinks, including familiar cocktails, beer, frozen drinks and nightly specials
- Game nights and parties
- An atmosphere you can’t find anywhere else in town
Plus, it’s just steps from the Orion, so it’s the perfect spot for concert ticket-holders to grab a pre-show drink, or keep the party going post-show.
Also coming soon to the MidCity District
We’ve got a lot to look forward to in the MidCity District in the near future. A few projects we can’t wait for include:
- Camp Pickle: A summer-camp-themed pickleball facility where you’ll be able to play all year round. The Huntsville location, expected to open in 2024, will be the first of 10 nationwide.
- Fitness court + art installation: The City of Huntsville partnered with Arts Huntsville and the National Fitness Campaign last year to install four new fitness courts around town, and one of them is coming to Apollo Park. (Check out the first one, which just opened at John Hunt Park.)
- Kayaking at Apollo Park: 30-foot flumes and a kayak school will accompany Apollo Park’s new kayak expansion. No completion date has been announced yet.
- Starbucks: Can a city ever have enough Starbucks locations? This one is expected to open this summer.
Where to find it
Jeff & Blues will officially open to the public this Saturday, April 15.
It will also be open for regular hours on Sunday, April 16. On this day, it will showcase a puppy portrait station powered by K8 Photo during the Orion’s Pup Palooza—a dog-friendly festival from 1-5 PM.
- Address: 703 Amphitheater Dr NW, Huntsville, AL 35805
- Hours: Thursday 4PM-12AM; Friday 3PM-2AM; Saturday 12PM-2AM; Sunday 11AM-9PM
