NEW: The Bakingtist on Holmes Ave is closing
Reading time: 2 minutes
The Bakingtist, a bakery and café on a mission to share the science of baking, will close its doors this Sunday. The owner, Heidi Kizer, announced the closing to Facebook and Instagram last night.
You can still visit the bakery-café during regular hours this week. Its last day open will be Sun., Jan. 7.
How The Bakingtist got started
Before moving into a brick-and-mortar location, The Bakingtist started selling breads and baked goods out of an apartment. They started a Kickstarter campaign in October of 2022 to raise $35,000 for a location.
The bakery and café officially opened its storefront in December of 2022, and it debuted a new menu that included sandwiches, new breads and pastries.
What’s next for The Bakingtist after closing?
To maintain its lease, The Bakingtist will transition out of selling baked goods into a new endeavor. It will rebrand to “The Bakingtist School of Baking” and host baking classes to continue sharing the science of baking with the community.
